I am from South Africa.
I would like to purchase an iPhone from America. If I put my CellC ( A network provider) sim card into it, would it work or do i have to unlock it. if i have to unlock it can you please tell me how

you can call the company who you bought the iphone from and tell them you are traveling out of the country and you are gonna use their service there and you want your phone unlock. They will try and talk you out of it but don't give in. Tell them you need your phone unlock.

BestBuy won’t let you buy without contract TurboSIM should work just fine with T-Mobile.

I was just thinking of buying the phone at best buy, can’t I buy it from there without an AT&T contract? Also if I buy that Turbo SIM I’m guessing this works with T-mobile right?

Jakkelyne : The only possible way right now is a Turbo SIM which you can buy for $20 on eBay. Slightly tricky but not impossible Surprise him this birthday!

p.s : You can either buy an iPhone on eBay (no contract) or Apple store (2yr contract while buying)… Check your options…

I am planning on getting my boyfriend the new iphone for his birthday and I wanted to know if it was possible or hard to unlock the new iphone because he has t-mobile and i don’t want him to switch providers and I don’t think he does either.

Zafar : It doesn’t hurt to update apps on Cydia. You can even use iTunes to update to 2.0.2 firmware and still unlock your iPhone afterwards!

I have iphone unlocked and working fine with my T-Mobile sim. I want to know if its OK to update the software/applications thru Cydia?? Someone warned me that if i do, the phone will get locked again…please help…

aye check this out…. if u have an unlocked ipnone and u have tmobile and the total internet package(data plan) all u have to do is go to the settings icon on your iphone select general settings then scroll down to network and select it…. Then select EDGE then u select APN and type internet2.voicestream.com and u should be able to connect to the internet….
