The object in the image is a large bald-faced hornet nest (a type of yellowjacket wasp nest), likely abandoned. These nests are constructed from chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva, giving them a distinctive grey, papery, egg- or football shape.

Appearance: The nest has a mottled grey, paper-like exterior with swirling patterns and an opening typically at the bottom.

Location: This nest was found on my personal property. Nest was harvested within the past couple months, and kept preserved.
