Microsoft and eBay Raining Free Cash for a Change – Ultimate Buyer’s Deal!

21 June 2008 9 Comments

Microsoft’s exciting experiment or is it Microsoft’s Economic Stimulus package?

How many times have you thought ‘Damn! I cannot buy a Wii any time soon!‘ or ‘Well, iPhone 3G is mighty expensive, how do I get an iPhone 2.5G for a decent price?‘ Well, I got both these products at the best price possible – EVER! But how? Thanks to Microsoft’s cash back program. Microsoft really want to capture the market share when it comes to online sales and they came up with Live.com ; a product search for the prospective buyer with a difference. You get a cash back (percentage) with every purchase you initiate via Live.com

What is the deal with eBay then?

Well, recently Live.com started displaying eBay ads with a fancy 35% / 20% / 10% off icons. Wait, 35% is a heck of a deal, isn’t it? So an overpriced Wii ($320 is now $320 – 35% = $208!!). The restriction being that : the item should be bought as a Buy it now item. The maximum you can earn in one transaction being $250. Microsoft pays you the percent discount after a whopping 60 day period! Hey, free cash, right 🙂

How it works in a snapshot…

Only applies to Buy It Now items paid for using PayPal. For example, go to http://www.live.com/ (type it into your browser, don’t click the link in this post) and search for a Wii. Check the paid results at the top and right for a link to eBay with the “live search cashback” icon. Click it, find a Buy It Now auction for a Wii (or whatever you want for that matter). Discount should be listed on checkout page.

Only Microsoft? Is eBay offering any free cash?

Yep! eBay randomly chose the lucky few and has been awarding eBay bucks for a spending spree. A snapshot of eBay bucks program (active till August 14th).

If you are invited to join the program, you start earning percentage (2% / 3% / 5% / 6% / 9%) eBay bucks which you can spend on eBay starting August 22nd. Sounds fun, huh?!

Icing on the cake : eBay has this habit of sending coupons from time to time. If all you did was ignore them till now, it is time to get back on track. Go ahead and stack all three offers (eBay bucks + Microsoft Live Cash back + eBay coupons) for a tremendous deal ranging from as low as 20% to 40% off the product Buy it now price!

Wait, I need a sample scenario! Ok, lets explore a live scenario

I just bought a Macbook Pro 2.5GHz, 3years AppleCare with this deal.
$2200 (after bugging the seller to drop the price from $2350 + $36 shipping) : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI….0231581878
$2200 – (100+250+198) = $1652 (Deal or no Deal?!)
Am excited after the biggest online transaction of my life. Wanted to document the feat
Good luck again!

hey, in the live scenerio, you did three subtractions:

    $2200 – (100+250+198) = $1652 (Deal or no Deal?!)

two of which i understand, the 100+250, but what is the $198 for?

Hey! The other transaction refers to eBay bucks (ebay invited some users to join this program). 9 to 10% stackable discount is cool.

I bought an iphone when MS Live Cashback was 35% and ebay bucks 3% = 38% !
$400-($144) = $256 (not bad for an 8GB iPhone with warranty till 2011 (squaretrade warranty).

  • david said:

wow, when did you buy that and a warranty till 2011? MAN, that is sweet. did u do this on ebay also? well i guess you did becuase you are talking about the ebay bucks… hey i havent gotten any sort of invitation like that from ebay, was is recently they sent it out or sum time ago? do you know if they send it out from time to time? i just checked out the live cashback on ebay and rightnow its at about 20%

also you spoke about the coupons ebay have been sending out, even that i got nothing? are you an active ebayer? maybe that might be the reason you getting stuff as such.

  • Kiran said:

Yeah, active eBayers are sent those coupons probably. But its still a steal for some hard to find products like wii, ps3 and iPhone 🙂

Aboive all, one has to realize that basement waterprooffing assumes greater significance
because the basement area provides the basic and a strong foundation that supports the building structure.
Simply take thhe garden hose out annd start sprayng it over the skylight.
Water will often travel far along pipes before dripping to the
