Here are the downloads to get you upto iPhone Firmware 2.0.1 (unlock for 2G iPhones, Jailbreak for 3G iPhones included). Make sure you have your SMS backed up before attempting the firmware upgrade!

If you want to build the Pwned 2.0.1 Firmware, download Pwnage 2.0.2 and bootloaders here (MAC Only).
If your iPhone is already Pwned (if you see the pineapple logo on your iPhone boot screen), then you can download the Pwned firmware 2.0.1 from the following links. Use HJ-Split (Mac, Windows) to join the files. Once downloaded and joined, use iTunes and Shift+Restore (Windows), Option + Restore (Mac) to select the Pwned firmware. Restore is the best option. Trust me update feature tries to screw things up given that ours is a custom firmware

If I am using a Iphone 2.0 that has been pwned and unlocked, will restoring the .ispw file through windows xp mess anything up? Will my phone still be unlocked? Will I loose my songs/APPS/Cydia APPS/contacts/etc? Thank you for your help!

John : Update is not recommended given that this is a custom hacked firmware! You might try but no guarantees! Best bet : Backup – Restore and then get data from the backup!

Yep yep! Thats what I am doing right now! Takes a long time to restore apps to your iPhone though! Contacts is a breeze!

I just got my iphone 2g recently and the guy i bought it from had the pwned 2.0 firmware on it for me. So i’m pretty new to the whole unlocking and pwning thing. And just recently got a Mac and have been trying to learn how to work all of this.
So what I’m trying to figure out is how to update my iphone to the pwned 2.0.1.
Since it is already pwned to 2.0, what do I have to do exactly with the pwnage tool to just upgrade it to 2.0.1?
rough : All you have to do is download Pwnage 2.0.2 and bootloaders link (first link) and then download iPhone firmware 2.0.1 from iTunes (don’t install, just download). Pwnage will take care of the rest! Once you have the custom firmware file built, use iTunes to restore it since your iPhone is already pwned!
Make sure you extract the bootloader files on your desktop.

Im using windows itunes to restore my iphone with the custom firmware that is download it for this site my iphone is al ready jailbroken with the pineapple logo.It’s unpakking the firmware and i get a error 5 in itunes.

boes : Windows users can download the custom firmware file provided in the links (3 links) and use iTunes to restore (make sure your iPhone is pwned).
Patrick : Hope you are using a 2G iPhone. If yes, quit iTunes, restart your iPhone and computer and try again. It should definitely work since it was already tested.

ok so i’ve updated and everything, now I’m trying to figure out how to restore my iphone, and I’ve already backed it up on itunes. I try syncing but that doesnt restore it. Someone know how to do this?
Rough : When you restore, you are provided with the option to upgrade from the backup. Sync should work but you must have specified the backup file for it to use.
But all data should be synced via iTunes anyway, try syncing back…
ok so if I click restore, it asks if i want to back up the settings for the iphone before restoring software, than i click “back up”.
than it asks me if i’m sure if i want to restore the iphone to the factory settings.
would that bring back my iphone to its default settings and remove the unlock and everything?
rough : If you click restore in iTunes, yes, all settings will be lost including unlock. You have to restore to the custom firmware you downloaded (pwned firmware)

How come the size of the CUSTOM file is 233.76MB, while the ORIGINAL firmware from Apple is BIGGER… 242.28MB ???
What’s missing from the CUSTOM?

Am I able to restore a already created 2.0.1-ipsw file on my iphone while using newest iTunes (which version shall I use best?) for getting jailbreaked 2.0.1 on my phone?

Dev team actually were patching bootloader and stuff, I’m sure a custom version is introduced, hence the smaller size! Lot depends on trust

Error 6 : Is your iPhone already pwned (pineapple logo) ? If yes then restart both pc and iPhone and try again.
Last resort downgrade to 1.1.4, winpwn it and then use this ipsw…

Im really confused here. Which file do I download for my pwned 3G? The one at the top or bottom? Also then all I do is shift+restore in iTunes. Select the file and that’s it? Also what does activate unchecked mean? I’m on windows…we are left behind with this stuff….

Do Pwnage Tool and WinPwn spit out the same type of IPSW? By that I mean, if I assemble my custom IPSW on my mac but sync my iphone with my Windows machine, will it do strange things if I build the IPSW and then move it over to my PC to restore from it?
Dave : no matter which platform you use – mac of windows, it’s the same ipsw that is spot out! You can use it on any platform where iTunes works!

Kare : if it is after restoring you see the pineapple logo , you might want to restart I. Best bet would be to redo the restore process..
Its stuck there right at the end of restoring. i end up having to unplug it, then it throws an error 9.

Kare: dfu is a special mode from 1.1.4,turn iPhone off, then hold power and home for 10 secs and then release power button while holding home button..

I thought i would try out the new pwnage tool. I unchecked the logos and installed on my iphone. Loaded all my content on (2 or 3 hrs.) Then i found out my phone was gone. Restored custom fw. Still no phone. Used the simple mode and restored to iphone. Carrier name was there with full bars. Loaded all my content ( 2 or 3 Hrs.) Played around with installer. Couldn’t get it to install anything. Mail wouldn’t work. Installed openssh and winterboard with cydia . cyberducked into my phone and fixed mail permissions. Had to uninstall winterboard, was making phone crap out a lot. Cydia crashed a lot. When i finally got my phone tweaked to how i liked it i tried to make a phone call. phone kept crashing every time i pushed the phone icon. Am now doing a original restore 2.0.1 through itunes. I figure about 10 hrs. from start to finish.

i was able to install the firmware above for 2g but cydia doesnt load properly for me. is anyone else having the same problem?
pl be more specific with the error messages of the like for better diagnosis ..
i meant there are no apps to install when i open cydia. there are no packages and it seems to fail when updating its files.

Hi, I downloaded the custom firmware for iPhone 2G from iDisk, then I putted my iPhone in DFU mode and did Option + Restore in iTunes, previously backed up the iPhone in iTunes. The restore worked perfectly, and then iTunes asked me if I wanted to set it up as a new iPhone or restore it from the back up, then I chose the restore. But, after the restore ends, instead of show me the information of my iPhone, iTunes shows me again the option of set it up as a new iPhone or restore it from the back up! Even when I can see all of my contacts, apps, etc. perfectly in my iPhone! Well, then I chose restore from back up again, and right in the middle of the restore it just hangs up, and nothing happens! What can I do?
Fede: it is recommended to setup as a new phone every time you use pwned firmware files… You can always sync later ….
My Itunes has been stuck at Preparing Iphons software for restore.

I can’t get the bootloaders to work. Every time I download them (there have been many), my machine can’t read them. What am I doing wrong? So frustrating!
Just download the file I provided which has bootloaders in it. Unzip them to Desktop and run pwnage. Trust me it works
best bet, create a new user account and start off clean if everything else fails ….
It still does not work. I started over. When I unzip the file I get the pwnage tool fine, but all I get are two blank files for the bootloaders. When I try to open them. My machine says to choose an application to open them. Help!!!!!
You should not attempt to open the bootloader files at all, just unzip the .rar file attached to the desktop…

When it asks for bootloaders point it to the bin files, you don’t have to open them… call me from tech support link on this site…

I have no account on rapidshare, but I find a way to create the file without any winpwn- crashes!
You have to work with the “partition resizer” in Winpwn 2.0.0.4 in the tab of iPwner. I changed it to 532 MB and thats all! The full working*.ipsw -custom file will be the result!

Ok, so is there still no Unlock software for the 3G Iphones? Ive got a 16gig 3G, that has not been activated oob, and Im looking for any way to get it up and running.
Sans : There is still no software unlock though Turbo SIMs reportedly work fine with a different carrier. You can activate them though using Pwnage, just that you cannot use it with a different carrier unless you unlock using a Turbo SIM for the moment….
