SSH into iPhone without WiFi (Using USB) : Juice Drop by Ripdev

screenshot-218The guys who gave us the good old installer.app are at it again, this time by providing a simple and easy to use client for transferring files to the iPhone via USB rather than WiFi which has been the norm for quite some time! This method is a god send to those having WiFi issues (hardware) or have no access to a wireless router. Now you can easily install an application without having to resort to WiFi timeout issues or availability issues. Transfer music, e-books, even bootloader files via this method! It works both on Windows as well as Mac.Did I say you don’t have to jailbreak your iPhone to use this? Wow, those who chose not to jailbreak can now start accessing the iPhone filesystem!

  • Download Juice Drop (client)
  • Connect your iPhone via USB to iTunes (Mac/Windows)
  • Launch Juice Drop and click on preferences to define the path for certain file types
  • Drag and drop the files you wish to transfer on to the slick juicy globe!

Preferences can be tricky. Ripdev releasd this client to support easy uploading of files compatible with their commercial applications.

Choose AFC 2 Protocol to define the path on iPhone where you plan on saving the files. For instance, you want to store a PDF file in a custom folder, you have to create the folder on your iPhone using MobileTerminal (since Juice Drop doesn’t support uploading of Directories, kinda lame!). Now assign the exact path to PDFs in preferences window and voila, you have your PDFs on your iPhone in no time! Imagine saving a 2GB Maps file for xGps via WiFi and USB!

Somehow didn't work for me. I tried to upload pdfs using AFC2. All I got was a blinking orange globe. Any hints. Would like to use this. Seems good.

But I need more helpful instructions. Specific ones.

Well, it worked for me the way I described.
Make sure iTunes is open and your iPhone is showing in it.
    Then try …

    Sent from my iPhone

Thanks for your prompt reply. What I did was drop files on the orange, without
itunes opened or itouch recognized. My proceedure order may have been wrong.

When I did drop the files, though the orange didn't recognize the file in AFC2
mode, only AFC mode. Just kept continuously blinking. (and what is the right
download path, anyway. is var/root all that is needed.

If I want to upload apps, lpa, what is the exact configuration, download path?

You have to specify the file path that you want for extensions that aren't already installed.

For file extensions that aren't already installed, to clarify. You can configure this in preferences.
