Step 1) Choose the right firmware for your iPod touch from the following links

Step 2) Download HJSplit and join the files downloaded in step 1. Save the resulting .ipsw file on the desktop.

Step 3) Upgrade iTunes to version 8.2 [Very Important]

Step 4) Connect your iPod Touch to your PC/Mac and Launch iTunes 8.2

Step 5)

• If you are using a Mac

Hold the Option Key and hit the Update button (or restore button for a fresh install) and choose the ipsw file placed on the desktop. Hit OK.

If you are using a PC

Hold the Shift Key and hit the Update button (or restore button for a fresh install) and browse to the ipsw file placed on the desktop. Hit OK.
