iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 Released, Jailbreakable & Unlockable but Not Safe for iFun Yet!

26 February 2008 6 Comments

Apple released firmware 1.1.4 with no major upgrades which means it is intended to support the forthcoming SDK. For all those waiting to buy an iPhone might want to buy an iPhone right away cos’ we can still get iPhone 1.1.3 OTB and once 1.1.4 OTB iPhones start shipping, that may pose problems.

Don’t Upgrade to 1.1.4 if you need an interruption free iPhone Usage (Apps and Stuff!)!!

Zibri’s Jailbreak works just fine but itcannot be Activated, so non-ATT users might want to wait a while before updating. All in all, another not so feature-rich update from Apple. Tame your ‘upgrade to the latest’-behavior and wait for the right time! Personally, there is no reason to upgrade when no enhancements are made. We can think of upgrading once SDK is released.

Any further findings on iPhone 1.1.4 will be updated in this post on a regular basis. Stay tuned!

Updates :

iPhone 1.1.4 is Jailbreak/Unlock Safe! (Use iNdependence/iJailbreak/ZiPhone – Yet to be released)

SMS and Bluetooth issues resolved as claimed by iPhoneAtlas.

iPhone modem firmware updated to 4.0.4.05_G from 4.03.13_G which boosts cellular reception.
Safari now preserves previously visited pages when you relaunch it instead of showing white pages.
Google Maps Location feature posing issues locating properly. (Not Confirmed)

iPhone is a lot snappier, not to mention a major Boost in Cellular Signal.

iPhone camera works smoother and faster with no lag after a picture is captured.

Most of the apps work fine with 1.1.4 iPhone. You might want to give it a try cos’ Apple released a firmware only 2 weeks after 1.1.3’s launchΒ  on purpose, some bug fixes!

Another reason to refrain from updating to 1.1.4 : Check this out.

hey Kiran, so then what is the update on 1.1.3, is it safe to update, or is it still non-stable and you recommend sticking to 1.1.2 for a while longer?

    Thanks in advance πŸ™‚

Hey amart!! Good to see you πŸ™‚ How have you been? Well, I am still using 1.1.2 since apps for 1.1.3 may get real messy at times but I see an installer.app change and well, I am going to try it and will let you know! Stay away from 1.1.4 for some more time atleast till SDK is out πŸ˜‰

I am fine buddy! You are welcome, this blog is my passion and to share is my goal! Will keep you updated. 1.1.4 is useless so far, atleast until the SDK is released. The modem firmware is updated too, we all better be careful while hitting the update button!

I may try 1.1.3 very soon! I am sure the other apps are getting closer to the stable zone with 1.1.3!

hello kiran! i was just wondering again about the SDK. Are the iphones at the stores now with 1.1.4 firmware? or is it that the SDK is just an update thats done on itunes?

  • kiran said:

Hi Jack! SDK is completely a software platform to create apps and to use those apps, we might need 1.1.4, not confirmed yet but so far 1.1.4 is not a worthy upgrade. iTunes will sell the apps for iPhone later on…
