Note : If you are planning on using Gevey SIM, please take a quick peek at this marathon race into chasing the mystery behind Pwned iPhone 3G 2.2 and Gevey SIM issues.

This custom pwned firmware version 2.2 has the older Baseband, Factory default logos (No Pwnapple at boot!) , Pre-activated for non-ATT users, Root Partition size 1000 MB, Cydia and Installer as a bonus to make life simple!

Recommended Steps :

Pwn your iPhone 3G when at firmware version 2.1 using QuickPwn 2.2 either using Windows or Mac(STRICTLY REQUIRED)

Now, download this Custom Firmware v2.2 using the following Rapidshare links (totalling 236.6 MB, use HJSplit to Join these files)

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore.ipsw.001

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore.ipsw.002

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore.ipsw.003

The following ipsw is with 533 MB root partition (DeFacto as it is termed by Johnny)!

No boot logos (standard apple logo)
533mb root partition
No baseband upgrade
cydia,installer
Activated for T-mobile
You Tube activated

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore_iLikeMyiPhone_533MB_Activated.ipsw.001

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore_iLikeMyiPhone_533MB_Activated.ipsw.002

iPhone1_2_2.2_5G77_Custom_Restore_iLikeMyiPhone_533MB_Activated.ipsw.003

Use iTunes v8.0.2 on either Windows or Macs (Late 2008 Macbooks included) and hold the Shift (Windows) / Option (Mac) buttons and browse to the .ipsw you just downloaded (and joined) and let iTunes do the rest!

You should now have iPhone 2.2 firmware with all the new features and the best of Open Source offerings (Cydia and its wonderful applications which Apple may never approve in the near future!).

  1. Thanks for all the hard work kiran! As you could tell it's very much appreciated!

I started downloading the files..rrr…well one BY one. I'm not a Rapidshare premium member, so yeah it's gonna take the whole day. LOL Does anyone have a faster way to send it to me? Sucks that us Windows users get the end of the stick!

  2. Thanks 29 but I tried on Demonoid and also isohunt and Denomoid has some but they're only 600MB partition. Looking for 1000MB like this one. Guess I'll have to wait it out. ?

  3. hi there,i accidently upgrade my iphone 3g to 2.2.but i was using it with gevey turbo sim.so i havent any network signal.if i use this firmware can i use my gevey turbo sim??? if i wont? will dev team find solution? thanks to all

  4. Kiran – I believe I dled a 2.1 custom with activation already done and it did not work for me (no signal). But I can always try and revert back if it doesnt work. I just dont remember which one caused me the problem.

  5. Alexander : Sorry to say not much of good news for those who directly upgraded to 2.2 🙁 May be in the future, but given the complexity, we are looking at quite some time. Best bet, find a legal iPhone user and swap devices if possible (weird but that is the best I can think of right now)…

Jay : My firmware available for dld in this page is already activated. Try restoring it to this firmware…

    Roy : Welcome 🙂

Johnny : The firmware on this page is activated as described!

  6. @ kiran

If possible can you make a custom for ATT users (no bb update of course) with a 1000MB? I over looked the part that this ipsw is already activated. PLEASE :-

  7. thank you very much kiran! that would be great! I'll I'm seeing on torrents and sites are 600MB parittion and the recommended 1000 that you've made is perfect! okay understood, school comes first than anything else I agree

  8. Kiran.

Can you create a 3G custom 2.2 ipsw with the following specs:

no boot logos (standard apple logo)

    500mb root partition

no baseband upgrade (remain @ 02.11.07)

    cydia

    installer

    activated for T-mobile

    You Tube activated

This spec should be the de-facto standard becuase of the following: anyone can change the logos using logome; 500mb root is enough because a symlink will be created pointing apps, fonts, etc…to the larger partition…1000mb wasting valuable space; installer can easily be removed using ssh; i don't understand why people would post an un-activated version of the ipsw…custom firmware is ideal for non-legit users. you at&t folks can just upgrade via itunes…if legit don't need third party apps.

  9. Johnny : Totally agree with you. Creating it right away. Cannot afford to spend so much time now, LOADS of school work. Hope I get no more requests for custom ipsws or Pwnage gets updated for Windows may be! Will post links in few minutes.

  10. need help please
