ZiPhoneGUI – Activate, Jailbreak and Unlock 4.6 BL iPhones for Windows Users

Kiran Konathala • February 14, 2008 • 1 min read

UPDATE : Download ZiPhone Latest Release for Windows. A Mac version of the same can be had here.

ZiPhone GUI is built by i.unlock.no which is based on GeoHot’s unlock script which was generalized by Zibri 🙂 ZiPhoneGUI is for Windows users while Mac users have a better application in the form of iJailbreak. Talk about hackers/developers but yeah – they are the best! iPhone Devs have been keeping mum so far but hey, this method works the best!

Unlock option works with only 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB iPhones and that makes sense cos’ we already have solutions for 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 iPhones. Activate and Jailbreak option works with any version of iPhones. So no more oktoprep->downgrade->upgrade stuff which saves us lot of time and better yet : a much more efficient solution!

Download this application from a fast download mirror. Happy unlocking!! Do comment if you have any issues with bootloader or baseband and use this application at your own risk!!

  3. Well, if you hit the unlock option (free my iPhone button) and you got the successful message, you might want to go to Settings -> General -> Networks -> Carrier and choos the appropriate carrier.

  4. KIran Bro the messege I am getting is like that: Incorrect SIM This iPhone must be used with an approved SIM” Any idea how to fix this problem?? Will really appreciate it thanks.

  5. Hoe long does unlock/jailbreak/activating take? Mine has said “entering recovery mode” for about 5-10minutes now. My itunes was open and it said “Iphone recovery mode-must restore” but I just ignored it. Did I do something wrong? I’m afraid to click on the kill ziPhone button since it say it may damage the phone. *This phone is brand new and never activated/registered or at least I think it hasn’t been activated. Please Help? =\

  6. Thanks Kiran =) , I’ve downloaded the firmware but don’t know which file to select =\. There isn’t an obvious file labeled “restore” in the Iphone 1,1.1 folder. I have no clue what to do??

  7. Thanks Kiran =) , I’ve downloaded the firmware but don’t know which file to select =\. There isn’t an obvious file labeled “restore” in the Iphone 1,1.1 folder. Can you help?

  8. @ Mai : I suggest you download 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 from http://ilikemyiphone.com/wordpress/?page_id=162 since 1.1.1 is too old now. Once, you download the .ipsw file, open iTunes, connect your iPhone and ignore any update messages that pop. Now, hold the ‘Option’ key (Mac) or “Shift’ key (Windows) on your keyboard and hit the restore button in iTunes, now a file dialog opens, choose (browse) the downlaoded file (.ipsw) and hit ok, thats it 🙂

  9. Hey Kira its Tonee. I want to thank you again for the help with unlocking my new iphone. When I unlocked the phone it was upgraded to 1.1.3. I keep hearing about 1.1.4 is it worth it to upgrade now or should I just continue to use the 1.1.3 firmware? Thanks for all your help again Kiran.

  10. Hi Tonee!! I suggest 1.1.3 for now if youare happy with it cos’ 1.1.4 update is a pretty minor update and I see no reason why we should jump on to it… so 1.1.3 is good 🙂

  11. Thanks Kiran thats what I figured. So can I ask your take on the talk about SDK and the new 2.0 firmware? And whats all the talk about this appstore dose that mean installer will not work after while?
