ZiPhoneGUI – Activate, Jailbreak and Unlock 4.6 BL iPhones for Windows Users

ZiPhone GUI is built by i.unlock.no which is based on GeoHot’s unlock script which was generalized by Zibri 🙂 ZiPhoneGUI is for Windows users while Mac users have a better application in the form of iJailbreak. Talk about hackers/developers but yeah – they are the best! iPhone Devs have been keeping mum so far but hey, this method works the best!

Unlock option works with only 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB iPhones and that makes sense cos’ we already have solutions for 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 iPhones. Activate and Jailbreak option works with any version of iPhones. So no more oktoprep->downgrade->upgrade stuff which saves us lot of time and better yet : a much more efficient solution!

  1. Well, my take on the SDK : It is a powerful update! It will include all the best apps very soon and the best part being FREE apps on the AppStore. So, most developers will rely on donations for goodwill for sure 🙂

    So, we have time till June ’08 for 2.0 to roll out, which means we have about 4 months in hand to use installer.app

    Come 2.0 firmware, jailbreak issue will remain. It is still required for unlock and support other carriers – boot loader 3.9 is already in our hands to play with, so current iPhones can easily take care of 2.0 … if not iPhone 2.0 OTB !!

  4. I’m using firmware version 1.1.1 , however the installer my iphone was updated to firmware version 1.1.3 using its WI-FI , but I didn’t restart it up till now. Is it gonna lock my iphone if I restart it?
    Meanwhile, when trying to install many app. it prompts my that at least I’ve to use (firmware 1.1.3) to be able to install the app.
    any suggestions 🙂

  5. @SH : installer.app updated to its latest version, your iphone’s firmware is not. it is still at 1.1.1 and yeah most of the applications are updated for 1.1.3 hence, I suggest you update to 1.1.3 for a muc more stable iphone usage….

    I live in India and have just bought an iPhone with 1.1.2 firmwire and a local carrier here. It’s unlocked cause without it it doesnt work in india. But i have no installer or apps for the iPhone. Will the above methods work for me and will my sim also work, please help before i try anything stupid.

  8. @ Smokey : Sorry for the delay, ZiPhone should work just fine and so is iPlus… Don’t worry, they (those tools) can never go wrong!

    @tonee : BSD Subsytem is essential for some applications which need OS level interaction. It is suggested you install it since some apps rely on those binaries…

  9. Hey Kiran Not sure if your online just have another question for you. I unlocked my iphone with your method above when it was unlocked installer was loaded already. I was wondering if that in lnstaller cydia I belive mine says nullriver. is the a major diffrence between them? I also want to ask if you heard any problems with installer refreshing longer than normal. Thanks for the help..

  10. Hi Tonee 🙂 Cydia is an alternative to installer.app! There is no major difference but Cydia has a search feature and some apps are missing altogether while installer.app is the good ol’ trusted app manager. The best part being – you can use them both at the same time, so try both!

    Yeah, installer.app takes longer than usual at times, it is a known issue..

    I am thinking of buying the new iPhone 16GB & plan to unlock it with above methods.
    I absolutely need the sim feature also unlocked as i am planning to use it with Airtel Network in India.

    Plese let me know if i am on the right track 🙂 Also anyone using Skype/SkypeIn features on iPhone?

  13. Ahiri : You are on the best possible track 😉 Go ahead and buy one soon cos’ everything Apple (iPod Touch and iPhone) can be hackable as of today!! Skype features : We have to wait some time for true VOIP to be implemented yet… Current paid version is not VOIP …. Hope I answered your question! welcome aboard!

  16. Thanks Kiran, Luckily i was able to find an 8GB refurbished iPhone for 250$ on AT&T online store! waiting for shipment to arrive…will get some hands on before trying 16GB 🙂 also the Ziphone 2.6b seems to be more promising..will keep you posted.

  18. Hey Kiran How are you? I just had to ask if you think its safe to upgrade my unlocked iphone to 1.1.4. I already have firmware 1.1.3 I just want to know if its worth it or if I should wait til june for 2.0

  19. tonee : There is every reason to upgrade to 1.1.4 given the bugfree nature of the firmware! Pl use iPlus / iLiberty+ from now on, ZiPhone already screwed so many bootloaders unfortunately! Nothing wrong with the bootloader but we have lesser flexibility if you use ZiPhone 🙂

  24. Who I just downloaded iLiberty+ this thing dose some of everything. I’m a little confused though. I already have a unlocked iphone its has firmware 1.1.3 on it from ziphone. I dont know what bootloader im on I just want to upgrade firmware right or do I need to do the downgrade? I want to continue but dont want to ruin a good thing I got now. Can you let me know what you think I should do. Thanks again Kiran
