I have ran the ZiPhoneGUI app with just “Jailbreak” selected as i do not need my phone unlockig and it ran with no errors. How do i now get installer.app onto my phone so i can start installing more apps?
Good question! I never thought of this issue but yeah, since it is jailbroken we can go via the iPhone File System browser thingy. Will explore and point you towards the right application.
I have use this particular unlocker yet after following all the steps. it was able to recognized my local sim provider but unfortunately it has a letter E beside the the provider name and can not fully function.
Maybe somebody could give me some help on this problem.
Used ZiPhone to unlock my 16gb OTB and it worked perfectly. Only issue is when I install 3rd party apps and try to access them it sends me back to the home screen. Any suggestions?
Strange, I never had such issues but yeah, 1.1.3 posed some issues. I am on 1.1.2 and use every app possible!!

Hey Amart, good to see you again! I jus saw the updated version of ZiPhone. I am still using 1.1.2 since 1.1.3 is not so stable for all applications. I am not sure if I am going to update to 1.1.3 (I tried it for several days and it screws some installer apps). If you want, you can update to 1.1.3 using iTunes and then run ZiPhoneGUI. It works like a charm!!
Hey, i wanted to ask so then if i buy the iphone 8 gb and it will probably come with the 1.1.3 version.Then i bring it straight oversease without openning it can i still use this program that your suggesting when i open the iphone straight from the box when im overseases and it will still work? because dont i still need to activate it from itunes for anything to work?
Jack, I recently used ZiPhone out of the box and straightaway activated it using ZiPhone. Hence there should be no problem activating/unlocking it

I am 1.1.2 OTB. I seem to not able to dial or send sms. The screen disappear. Phone crashed before when i tried installing anysim. I managed to put back I’d. Since then these issues started surfacing. I cannot even use instaler. Message keeps saying download fail. Please help me
i used the zee, on a 1.1.3. the jail was broken but the unlock didnt work. it dosent even pick the at&t sim. NEED SOME HELP PLEASE!!
@ Jamal : If you use the iPhone oversees, then you have to install iWorld under (installer.app -> Tweaks 1.1.2 ) to make it crash-prone. Use WiFi to do that. I suggest you do a fresh update to 1.1.2 in iTunes and then proceed with unlock.
@ Faisal : What command did you give while using ZiPhone? Did you use the GUI version or the command prompt version??
I have triedthe cmd prompt version and the GUI version on my 1.1.3 new out of the box unit & the ZiPhone prog freezes on me everytime. On teh CMD prompt method it afte entering the ziphone -a -j -u command it returns this:
Searching for iPhone….
USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error
Then it just hangs there and nothing happens – ever. On the GUI version it just states it’s looking for the iPhone and it never finds it…could this bedue to me using Vista? I’ve hard of people having issues with Vista…any help is appreciated
Well, I recommend XP for sure. Vista is still unfriendly unfortunately

i have a unlocked iphone just purchased.I HAD CINGULAR service before i purchased the iphone.I put the sim card in the I phone and the I phone works fine .But i was told to not up grade with I TUNES if they ask hit cancle!!Also Will i get charged fromCingular/att for services ?Please add infomation thank you !!!!
Hi George! I am using Cingular service like you without signing a contract. You are not charged for any other services except for your regular bill.
If you want to upgrade to the latest firmware, you can go ahead and update to 1.1.3 via iTunes, not a problem anymore (atleast till 1.1.4 is released).
Then you have to use ZiPhone (Windows) / iJailbreak (Mac) as described here
Hi, I have the iphone with 1.1.3 and i jail broke it with ZiPhone 2.4, it gave me the installer but when i try to install themes to it nothing changes….any help?? All i want to do is change the icons, background etc….thanks

Amanda, webapps have always been there for the iPhone. Are you referring to webclips(webpage icons on homescreen) or something else?
Native apps can be installed using installer.app icon from the homescreen. Launch it and install!

Well, are you using a GUI version or the Command prompt version? A better bet would be to do a fresh update (1.1.3) in iTunes and then use ZiPhone to activate/unlock

Download the firmware file from http://ilikemyiphone.com/?page_id=162 and hold the shift button on your keyboard and hit the update button on iTunes. You should then browse the downloaded firmware file and hit ok
Then, try downloading the latest link at the top of the page in this post. You should be good to go!!

You can use EDGE connection too, if you subscribed to EDGE from T-Mobile, then go to Settings-> General -> Network -> input the edge settings : APN : internet2.voicestream.com leve the user/pass blank!

Well, if you hit the unlock option (free my iPhone button) and you got the successful message, you might want to go to Settings -> General -> Networks -> Carrier and choos the appropriate carrier.

At this point, all I can recommend is to do a fresh install of 1.1.3 and then do an Unlock using the ZiPhone GUI …
Hoe long does unlock/jailbreak/activating take? Mine has said “entering recovery mode” for about 5-10minutes now. My itunes was open and it said “Iphone recovery mode-must restore” but I just ignored it. Did I do something wrong? I’m afraid to click on the kill ziPhone button since it say it may damage the phone. *This phone is brand new and never activated/registered or at least I think it hasn’t been activated. Please Help? =\
nothing to worry bud, restore it to 1.1.3 and perform a fresh unlock via ziphone GUI. Trust me, it won’t damage your iPhone. 1.1.3 is pretty powerful!!

@ Mai : I suggest you download 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 from http://ilikemyiphone.com/?page_id=162 since 1.1.1 is too old now. Once, you download the .ipsw file, open iTunes, connect your iPhone and ignore any update messages that pop. Now, hold the ‘Option’ key (Mac) or “Shift’ key (Windows) on your keyboard and hit the restore button in iTunes, now a file dialog opens, choose (browse) the downlaoded file (.ipsw) and hit ok, thats it

Hi Tonee!! I suggest 1.1.3 for now if youare happy with it cos’ 1.1.4 update is a pretty minor update and I see no reason why we should jump on to it… so 1.1.3 is good

Well, my take on the SDK : It is a powerful update! It will include all the best apps very soon and the best part being FREE apps on the AppStore. So, most developers will rely on donations for goodwill for sure
So, we have time till June ’08 for 2.0 to roll out, which means we have about 4 months in hand to use installer.app
Come 2.0 firmware, jailbreak issue will remain. It is still required for unlock and support other carriers – boot loader 3.9 is already in our hands to play with, so current iPhones can easily take care of 2.0 … if not iPhone 2.0 OTB !!

I’m using firmware version 1.1.1 , however the installer my iphone was updated to firmware version 1.1.3 using its WI-FI , but I didn’t restart it up till now. Is it gonna lock my iphone if I restart it?
Meanwhile, when trying to install many app. it prompts my that at least I’ve to use (firmware 1.1.3) to be able to install the app.

@SH : installer.app updated to its latest version, your iphone’s firmware is not. it is still at 1.1.1 and yeah most of the applications are updated for 1.1.3 hence, I suggest you update to 1.1.3 for a muc more stable iphone usage….

@tonee : BSD Subsytem is essential for some applications which need OS level interaction. It is suggested you install it since some apps rely on those binaries…

I was wondering if that in lnstaller cydia I belive mine says nullriver. is the a major diffrence between them? I also want to ask if you heard any problems with installer refreshing longer than normal. Thanks for the help..

Cydia is an alternative to installer.app! There is no major difference but Cydia has a search feature and some apps are missing altogether while installer.app is the good ol’ trusted app manager. The best part being – you can use them both at the same time, so try both!

tonee : There is every reason to upgrade to 1.1.4 given the bugfree nature of the firmware! Pl use iPlus / iLiberty+ from now on, ZiPhone already screwed so many bootloaders unfortunately! Nothing wrong with the bootloader but we have lesser flexibility if you use ZiPhone

You can get iLiberty+ from http://ilikemyiphone.com/?page_id=173 choose the version which suits your environment (Windows / MAc)… Yeah, you have to start off with all apps but you can install apps in bulk using payloads, you have to search for the payloads though…

Hey Kiran after many hours I got my iphone back up and running with the help of iliberty+. I seem to have one little problem now. Everytime i change my settings it dose not seem to save. I read that it might be a bug with iliberty+ is there a fix for this or do you think I should try to restore and re-unlock again?

im using iliberty to unlock my phone and a little pop-up screen says wait while iliberty+ boots device ino recovery mode, it’ll take a few seconds, but ive been waiting for more than 20 minutes. the status bar’s still at 0%!

it also says if the device times out you will recieve further instructions, and the bottom status bar said time out in 45 seconds (which never happened) and i pressed the power button and now that message has changed to ‘ready’, but the pop-up is still there…im really confused, pls help!

krishna : I suppose you have a PC. I would strongly suggest you to restore to 1.1.4
1)Turn your iPhone off.
2) Hold Power and Home buttons till you see Apple logo and then let go off power button till you see a DFU icon on the screen).
3) Restore to 1.1.4 and then try iLiberty+ latest version or ZiPhone for that matter cos’ ZiPhone’s bootloader effects are NOW reversible.

I have just got a brand new iPhone 1.1.4 from US to India. i want to unlock it myself. So just wanted to confirm which of them would be the best way to Unlock it :- ZiPhone 3.0, iLiberty+ or iPlus ?? … i have all 3 of these softwares with me and I am working on a windows XP machine. Please suggest. Alos do i need to connect my iPhone ot iTunes before i unlock it or do i do it right away?

Then you are better off using iLiberty+ : my personal favorite!
Just freed up 5 cool & nice 1.1.4 8GB IPhones for some of my workmates and myself. I used my Windows XP notebook and Ziphone, it all went well through the process, and it is very easy and straightforward to do it out of the box. First, unpack your IPhone and register it normally via ITunes, no matter what you choose, just follow the wizard. (here we suppose you want to liberate it to use with carriers other than AT&T) after the IPhone is recognized by the OS (operatign system) as a device, close ITunes and launch ZIphone. Then select “DO IT ALL”, (it is recommended to keep the console ouput windows open) and wait around 5 minutes to complete the process. REMEMBER: DURING THIS PROCESS, DON´T BOTHER AROUND WITH THE IPHONE, DON´T UNPLUG IT, AND DO IT WITH YOUR COMPUTER PLUGGED TO EXTERNAL POWER (AVOID RUNNING ON BATERIES FOR LAPTOPS). IPHONES ARE NOT REALLY THAT PRONE TO GET “BRICKED” O DEAD, I THINK THIS IS MOSTLY DUE TO INCORRECT PROCEDURES OR PEOPLE THAT DON´T READ HOWTOS AND MANUALES BOTHERING AROUND WITH TECHNOLOGY. After this process finishes, the IPhone should reboot itself and you get a new fresh and running 1.1.4 Jailbreaked liberated IPhone. Then use the installer application to install software (you need WIFI for this, any nice mall should give you that, or go to your favorite coffee shop, and take one for my sake!!) Really, I am quite impressed with the IPhone, perhaps the best user experience in my life, after the Commodore Amiga 500

I’ve just unlock using ZiPhoneGUI 3.0, but now i can’t open my itunes. The ITunes program said : iTune could not connect to the IPod “” because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000022). Please help me.
HELP!!! i mistakingly upgraded my unlocked iphone thinking it was the 2.0 version for previous owners with the 3g 2.0 firmware via itunes. now my iphone is stuck in recovery mode. how do i get it back to the 1.1.4v, unlocked and activated so that i my continue using my t-mobile services? iliberty+ hasnt worked at all. it just gets stuck in trying to enter recovery mode. what do i do?
