My previous post demonstrated the ability to partially unlock iPhone 1.1.1 for Cingular (non-iphone sims). Since AppTapp doesn’t have a version for the latest 1.1.1 firmware, I was looking for some answers on the internet and TechDadBlog came to my rescue again!
I then quickly followed iPhoneAlley’s post but I had problems at Step 7. I get a “Safari cannot download the file” error. I tried rebooting the iPhone at this point and then step 7 worked just fine.
I had a second issue in locating Trip1PogoStick though Safari spat no error …

Yes, the word is out. Though it was practically possible as soon as Jailbreak for 1.1.1 was announced but it took me many hours of tweaking (more than 18) but couldn’t get my Cingular sim back at work (without the 2 year contract). I searched all over the internet but none were reporting positively about 1.1.1 Jailbreak let alone Cingular working on it. This post at TechDadBlog initiated hope after clueless searches on Google for 1.1.1 hack. Vaughan and Mike did a great job on trying different alternatives. Finally, with …

Watch this space out! This time, it is from the hackers themselves – iPhone Dev team is about to release a fully functional free unlock for the mighty firmware 1.1.1 It took some time but hey, it is a stable OS and they are able to do it in style – security thrashed and everything decrypted. An automated tool for the average Joe is also in the making. Stay tuned!!
Finally, anySIM 1.1 is released but works only with those iPhones which were never unlocked (untampered baseband). If you haveused …

The entire world is ecstatic about the iPhone and iPhone Dev team announced the official hack (jailbreak) for the much coveted iPhone f/w 1.1.1 by a simple TIFF exploit, thanks Niacin. No more hunting for batch pre-38 week iPhones. The best part being – we can finally order an iPhone directly from Apple without fearing if it would work and hey, you can apply your iPhone store credit if any 🙂
Why do you even have to upgrade to 1.1.1 when 1.0.2 is working just fine?? Forgot the sound enhancement, iPhone …

More about this phenomenon from iPhoneAtlas. I read from MacRumors that most of the 7R7 and 7S7 batch iPhones suffer from this problem. 1.1.1 update really dint’ help iPhones from this issue unlike iPod Touch. For now, the best way to test your iPhones for dead pixels or negative black screen issue is by visiting this wonderful site (http://appleservedup.com/).Here is the famous Jay Z album cover test snapshot. Visit the site to test your iPhone screens and return them if you find them faulty – You deserve the best iPhone …

Its been a long time since the developers started exploiting the iPhone firmware loopholes but with the upgrade to 1.1.1 the hacking scenario came to a standstill. After long days of silence, here comes the reply – Apple could not perfectly seal the iPhone from a 3rd party hack! Erica of TUAW fame began her live blogging adventure and she released a saying ‘iPhone 1.1.1 is Jailbroken’. Jailbreak is the only thing letting us off from accessing the iPhone internals and after this update, the demand for iPhones with …

My friend lost his iPhone today 🙁 I just couldn’t digest the fact fact till now but he lost it and how do we nab the thieves? Long time back, when the iPhone was released, I read about an application which tracks the data on the phone (calls, sms …) and sends it via email periodically. I am not sure if Erica blogged/ wrote the app herself but am not able to find it. Could some kind soul point me in the right direction? My friend and a lot more …

With the release of firmware 1.1.1 (hack unfriendly f/w), iPhone is trying to bid farewell to TMobile in the US but thanks to old batch of iPhones with firmware versions 1.0 which are still available in certain Cingular stores in some areas!! All you have to do is check for the firmware version while you buy an iPhone. Make sure that the 4th and 5th digits of the serial number are less than 37 🙂 (source : MyDigitalLife) (located at the bottom right hand corner on the backside of the …

True that the early builds of Sketches application were sorta instable but the developers really did a great job with v 0.3 beta (current standing). I just can’t wait to see how it turns out to be with v1.0 cos’ lot of features are already packed into the beta product. It is true that drawing with a finger is not really a great idea but it is fun with this application. Now, there is an option to choose color, take a picture from the camera and draw on it but …

After the release of much awaited(?) 1.1.1 firmware for the iPhone, iTunes was pushing 1.1.1 update for iPhones bought till the last week. We all know that firmware 1.1.1 is the worst update so far despite minor enhancements. The question now is how do you upgrade to 1.0.2 from 1.0 & 1.0.1?? While I tried the Apache server and iTunes 7.4.1 trick, it dint’ deliver goods (I was offline when I tried it). I tried it on a Mac though. So,why upgrade to 1.0.2 from 1.0/1.0.1 while you can use …
